Define source and specification
Clarify the proposed collagen source, supplier specifications and any consumer restrictions. Compare available documentation with the product's intended positioning. Marine and other animal-derived sources should be considered with sourcing, allergen and labeling questions appropriate to the actual material.
Design the serving experience
Choose whether the product is an unflavored mix-in, a flavored beverage powder or part of a broader daily blend. State the intended serving, mixing temperature and preparation method. Evaluate aroma, flavor and texture under those conditions rather than judging a sample in an unrelated application.
Keep supporting ingredients purposeful
If the concept adds vitamins, botanicals or other components, define their role and what they change about the formulation. A beauty-from-within story should identify which claims rely on ingredient evidence and which would need finished-product research. Agree the manufacturing and packaging brief after the product architecture is clear.
A USEFUL STARTING POINT
Bring these three decisions.
- Collagen source and consumer restrictions
- Mix-in or flavored-drink use case
- Serving and claim-evidence priorities
PCG can scope concept definition, formulation and prototype work, sourcing, and the manufacturing handoff around your priorities. Deliverables, timing, testing and ownership terms are agreed for the project. Manufacturing is performed by the selected CDMO.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
Collagen formulation: your questions.
Can PCG develop a marine collagen product?
Yes. The scope should address material identity, supplier documentation, sensory expectations and relevant allergen considerations before the brand commits to a claim or source story.
Can a collagen concept be described as vegan?
An animal-derived collagen ingredient should not be presented as vegan. A plant-based alternative needs its own accurate identity and formulation brief, rather than treating the terms as interchangeable.
Can collagen be included in a greens blend?
That concept can be evaluated, but serving weight, flavor, consumer restrictions and the overall product message need to work together.
